METS Junior Varsity Football
Between December 9-12th, Hayah’s Junior Varsity (Under 16) Football Teams went to participate in the METS JV Football Tournament in Loutraki, Greece. This was not only Hayah’s first sporting trip to Greece but also their first time to host a METS (Middle Eastern Triangular Schools) event. The event began with some friendly games to get warmed up before both the Girls & Boys entered their group games. Both teams finished second in there groups, with the boys only missing top spot by goal difference. In the semi-finals, the girls suffered defeat but the boys came through a tough game against IC of Beirut to secure a place in the final. In their 3v4 play-off, the Girls won an epic penalty shoot-out to finish 3rd overall. In preparation for the Boys Final, Nabil Dejani won himself a new football by winning the Sportscamp ‘keep up’ competition. The final itself proved one game too many for the Boys who lost the Final 2-0 to finish as runners up.
Both teams concluded the trip with a visit to the historical city of Athens, included Acropolis & Monastiraki. Hayah would like to thank the hosts SportsCamp for their organization & hospitality throughout.
